To begin the process of discovering what your specific field of design expects and requires and your niche within it, you are asked to conduct some secondary research, and, in your blog, answer the following:

  • What do you consider to be your medium, style, and services of choice? Describe why you feel that is the case.

I consider my medium user interface graphic design and packaging graphic design.

I wanna consider packaging graphic design as one of my mediums.

But for my thesis project, I want it to be driven by the problem I aspire to solve instead of focusing on the medium which enables me to be distracted from finding a design problem to solve.

I consider one of my mediums as user interface graphic design because I like the creative elements and it’s focused on designing the product’s look and function. I also enjoy how UX design looks at the bigger picture and focuses on the user’s journey to solve a problem.

I wanna consider packaging and graphic design as one of my mediums as well.

Packaging offers something unique and appealing to customers. It’s one of the top elements that captures the attention of customers. I love the aspect that packaging design should instantly grab the attention of the audiences. It would be amazing to see one of my designs translated onto physical products. Packaging design refers to the creation of the exterior of a product. That includes choices in material and form as well as graphics, colors and fonts that are used on wrapping, a box, a can, a bottle or any kind of container. (Morr, Kelly.)

  • What kind of skills, aptitudes, and abilities are current jobs in your field requiring, and how do you think your skills align with them? Please include at least three job listings from anywhere in the United States.

The kinds of skills, aptitudes, and abilities the current jobs in my field requiring are

  • Interaction design principles

  • Branding, typography and color theory

  • Wireframing and prototyping

  • Style guides

  • User research and personas

  • Teamwork and communication skills

  • Key industry tools and prototyping tools

I think my skills do align with them well because I have worked on projects that used these skills over and over again. Even though I have a good grasp on these skills I have lots to learn and I am just starting and developing my experience in this field/job.

  • Thinking about after you graduate, what would you (either as a freelancer, employee, or business owner) offer that no one else in your market can? What would be your brand's unique value proposition?

After graduation, I plan to be an employee and freelancer for my short to mid term goals. As a freelancer, I think experimentation is key and having your own personal brand and creating your own signature and twist in creative works.  As a personal brand, I want people to not just see me as a graphic designer or UI designer like any other designer with the same title. I want people to get to know my character and what I stand for.

  • Ideally, what kind of clients/industries would you like to serve and work with, and why? Please provide links to a few examples.

Ideally, the kind of clients/industries I would like to serve and work with are

- Devoting your design to the fashion industry

- Designing for companies with a strong ethical stance

- Brands and Influencers on different social media
