  • 3D Printing Technology Is Environmentally Friendly.

  • Product design: making shopping bags out of 3d printed materials, hangers made out of 3d materials,

  • Reducing plastic waste using emerging technologies and machines

  • Interactive product to increase engagement with app

  • Ethical design and accessibility first design

Summary

1. Online shopping can be stressful. Consumers look for detailed descriptions on items, size guides, and visual images but many brands fail to provide these. Every day, many women and men struggle to find the right sizes when shopping online because sizes vary from brand to brand and depending on the country too. (Kim, H., & Damhorst, M. L.)

Public consumption of fast fashion—the buying, wearing and disposing of a garment only after only a few wears. We are all one the search of the perfect fit of clothing because it's very frustrating when your clothes don't fit right to your body. Clothing and the outer appearance are what people look at first impressions. The development of 3d technology allows quick body measurements and generate customised fit for any number of people. It has influences on consumers’ experience and satisfaction in the retail environment. (Apeagyei, 2010)

2. What does happiness look like? Why don't people dream anymore or even go after their dreams and goals they had when they were young? Happiness can mean many different things for people.

“Many people die at twenty five and aren’t buried until they are seventy five.”

– Benjamin Franklin

This quote by Benjamin Franklin is one of my favorite quotes because it is people's dreams that die at twenty five and I couldn't agree more. For example, after graduation we let life take control of our lives and we are living by default having no control of designing our life the way we want it. This is one of my biggest realizations I've embarked on during my personal development journey. One of the biggest fears I have in life is having regrets about not going after my dreams and goals.

3. Brands and companies incorporating more sustainable practices using emerging technologies like 3d printing to reduce waste (plastic in particular).

When grocery shopping, plastic bags are used more often and it is unlikely that it will be used multiple times compared to a reusable tote bag. It is noticeable that stores like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Costco have implemented alternatives to using plastic bags. Costco has a better approach to bagging items like recycling the boxes to carry bigger groceries. What are some other alternatives can we consider to further reduce the use of plastic bags? Experimenting with different durable materials and design of grocery bags. (Roach, J.)

4. Mental health and social media. When it comes to social media, being the everyday user we often find ourselves asking if it’s good/supplemental for our mental health. Just like with everything there are advantages and disadvantages to using social media. Studies have shown that not using social media in moderation contributes to stress and negative mental health. For example, Instagram not too long ago took down the number of likes people’s pictures have which helps reduce people’s addiction for approval through likes. Even though social media can be toxic it can also be beneficial for our mental health like the connections we connect with and a sense of community that anyone can relate to.

(Naslund et al., 2016) How can social media be used to promote positive mental health?

5. Helping underserved communities with emerging technological solutions - addressing issues like providing access to education especially learning how to read. Underserved communities especially in developing countries have limited access to teachers and education. They don’t have the basics of education like learning how to read and printed books are limited. Children will be able to access more books through technology.

(West, M., & Ei, C. H.) I’ve always had interests in being a social worker and contributing to my community. Helping children learn to read at the same time learning how to use a technological device would be more beneficial.

6. Nowadays, especially the younger and Millennial generation are more environmentally conscious and sustainability is the new driver in consumer’s purchasing decisions.

(Pero et al., 2020) How can emerging technology be used to help consumers understand more about their clothing (what material, where was it made in, how to take care of it better for longevity). There is a lack of education about the process our clothes go through and the importance of quality over quantity.

7. Building team cultures virtually isn't the same as meeting face-to-face in person. Whether you're an employee, business owner, or a life coach.

8. 3d printing: helping source out people with 3d printers (depending on scale and size of order) to print out objects ordered by consumers. Similar to how Upwork operates but it’s for people with 3d printers. it's difficult to find places that have 3d printers . 3d printers are an investment and expensive that large institutions and big companies have accessibilities to than the everyday consumer.

9. Creative blocks are very common and one of the most frustrating things for an artist or designer of any kind. Even young children have creative blocks as my brother and his friends passionate expressed to me.

10. Daily morning routine. There's no doubt that sometimes waking up is a difficult task but more importantly what you do right after you wake up matters more in setting the tone for the day. I am not a fan of routines in general but I know that having a morning and night routine helps me be productive throughout the day. But morning routines can get boring and mundane after awhile.
